Stop the Plague of Pseudoscience From Contaminating Anarchism

In anarchist communities, there are many more self-help and spiritual gurus gaining popularity. Anarcho-mystics are the primary personality. They have become acceptable enough to become a counterculture meme within anarchism.

Everywhere I look, I see charlatans, snake oil dealers, tricksters, and quacks. The only difference between garden variety new age folks and these people is the label. They wear the title “anarchist,” but they sell everything from alien overlords to dowsing rods to a smorgasbord of other conspiracy theories and pseudo-medical practices.

I refuse to target or name any specific individual here, because I do not want to start a pissing contest or attack a single person. This is just my opinion gleaned from observations of the community.

Anarchism Takes Courage: Helping People Escape the Cult of Normalcy

Anarchism is about courage. It takes poise to help people escape the cult of normalcy, wherein they revel in a haze of disinterest and violence and depravity. But when anarchists attempt to persuade people to discard love of their culture coma, of blood and carnage, they usually get a counterattack in the form of dismissive slander and appeals to State piety.

But it goes without saying the aforesaid defensiveness will crop up. Anarchism is not a philosophy one can peddle and not expect backlash. Anarchists require gumption to spread their ideas. They need not hide in the basement and avoid attacks; the anarchist must eventually emerge from the basement and lay siege to the idea of Statism. They must not be too fearful to communicate, lest they become miserly in their attempts to liberate the downtrodden. (more…)

MDMA: an Underground History, Its Pharmacological Effects, and Embracing Quantum Personality Change

The designer drug MDMA has caught a lot of flak from mainstream media over the years. Journalists, politicians, and other antediluvian types have failed to understand it, and have neglected researching it beyond biased governmental sources.

This intellectual dishonesty, of course, has led to the mass spread of myths and disinformation. But contrary to the rampant lie-mongering, the drug has been a godsend for people suffering from a variety of problems, especially latent traumas.

Lay Siege to the Therapeutic State: Unmake Psychiatry

Freethinkers should fight to abolish what Thomas Szasz called the “Therapeutic State.”

The Therapeutic State is the marriage of government and psychiatry. Government is the warmongering tribal leader. Psychiatry is the charlatan medicine man.  The enterprise is a rampaging behemoth that wields a deadly blend of deception and violence. It is an incestuous relationship that damages and harms everyone in its path. It does not heal or alleviate “mental illness,” as it claims. It exercises control over the population, while paying lip service to curing “mental illnesses” and leaving a trail of chemically lobotomized zombies in its wake.

The Therapeutic State has granted psychiatrists ungodly powers. They can lock people up in asylums called “mental health facilities,” without due process and without consent. They have the authority to defraud people into drinking potions that numb and destroy minds. (more…)

You and I: Discovering our Natural Opposition to Authority

Bear it aloft, O roaring flame!
Skyward aloft, where all may see.
Slaves of the World! Our cause is the same;
One is the immemorial shame;
One is the struggle, and in One name —
Manhood— we battle to set men free.
“Uncurse us the Land!” burn the words of the Dead,
Written-in-red.

~Voltairine de Cleyre

Me

I am naturally opposed to authority; it is in my bones. But I did not always know. It was buried alive deep inside of me and I had to coax it out. It just took time and experience to expose this truth. But once I grasped it, I was forever changed. Now I do not see the world in the same hazy, drunken stupor. I no longer harbor the lemming mindset. If I come marching down streets, I come with my fist raised and head held high.

If someone tries to tell me how to live without my consent, they will have a bad time. If they try to command me to do as they wish, I will indulge the opposite. If they try to make me get down on bended-knee and genuflect, I will mock them. If they try—resistance they will meet.

I am sovereign.

Persuasive Anarchy: Using Change Talk to Create Freedom Lovers

Many people complain that anarchists are idealists who imagine a Utopia that will never exist. They call anarchists stupid and naive and delusional. They say anarchists do nothing but fantasize about dreams with no way to realize them. They do not give anarchism a second thought. These anarchophobes go about their lackadaisical lives and never weigh or consider the plight of the freeman. They absentmindedly reject freedom, thus they miss the beauty of the vision and ignore the raison d’etre for living anarchically.

On Becoming an Anarchist: the Character and Contour of a Freeman

“Some things scratch the surface while others strike at your soul.” ― Gianna Perada

When one becomes an anarchist he does not fling explosive cocktails at common people. She does not don black attire, incite riots, or write anarchist cookbooks with recipes on burning buildings. It is true that one can be anarchist and commit trouble galore, but that is not the case on the whole. Modern anarchists are generally peaceful and pensive. They resemble most everyone and sport similar excitations, interests, hobbies, appetites, and other humanly behaviors. They simply vie for social and political change. They just want to be free.

Rise of the Lovertarians: A Return to Peaceful Resistance

“Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent.”

-Isaac Asimov

Humanity dwells in an increasingly hostile and dark world. People are inundated by mass shootings, warfare, and terrorism. Life is not sacred or respected. It is replete with seething anger and growing hatred.  Even some voluntaryist segments of anarchism seem eager to shed blood under the alarmist call for pragmatism.

It is as if these anarchists have forgotten their roots and dispensed with the idea of peaceful resistance, communicative nonviolence, and what Gandhi called Satyagraha—nonviolent resistance to evil. My goal is to bring anarchists back this notion that peaceful resistance can incite change, and to create a burgeoning community of psychologically minded “lovertarians.”

An Open Letter to the Military Veterans

Dear brothers and sisters,

I am writing to you on this Veterans Day not as foe but as friend. I am penning these words with a heart toward convincing you that any commands you obeyed and the services you rendered were a detriment to you, your brothers and sisters, and all the people of the world. It is not my intent to be ugly, to shame, to condescend, or incite you to anger or the desire to hurt me. I only wish to connect with you on a humanitarian level, thus I humbly request your attention to my perspective, to my truth. With that said, the things I say will not be easy. They do not come easy, either.

Anarchy is for Lovers

Anarchy is all around us. Without it, our world would fall apart. All progress is due to it. All order extends from it. All blessed things that rise above the state of nature are owned to it. The human race thrives only because of the lack of control, not because of it. I’m saying that we need ever more absence of control to make the world a more beautiful place. It is a paradox that we must forever explain.”

-Jeffery Tucker
