Anarchy and Emotion: Overcoming Childism and Healing Emotional Injuries

(Note: This is Part 3 in a 3 part series covering Hard Versus Soft anarchism, the doctrine of Relationalism, and movement toward the Sensitive Society. This is my attempt to professionally reconcile the underlying truth of psychological findings with voluntaryist anarchism.)

“The evolution of culture is ultimately determined by the amount of love, understanding and freedom experienced by its children…Every abandonment, every betrayal, every hateful act towards children returns tenfold a few decades later upon the historical stage, while every empathic act that helps a child become what he or she wants to become, every expression of love toward children heals society and moves it in unexpected, wondrous new directions.”

Anarchy and Emotion: A Heart-Based Philosophy for Transforming Society

I study counseling psychology. I learn to use skills that help people deal with personal issues, trauma, mental issues, and stress. But saying I “help” someone is actually a misnomer.

In reality, I empathize with an individual; I leverage the desire to connect with another human. I do this to show a person that they possess their own ability to cope with the stressors of life. In other words, I help them help themselves. My relationship with a client is what the counseling profession cleverly refers to as the “therapeutic alliance.”

The therapeutic alliance states that a counselor joins with a client and together they form a bond. They enter into an emotional rapport, which accounts for any healing that takes place. Current research in counseling states that the client and therapist bond is what contributes to positive outcomes. This is the open secret of all therapy. Healing occurs because client and counselor share an authentic connection. (more…)

Anarchy and Emotion: Toward a Softer Aesthetic for Freedom

(Note: This is Part 1 in a 3 part series covering Hard Versus Soft anarchism, the doctrine of Relationalism, and movement toward the Sensual Society. This is my attempt to professionally reconcile the underlying truth of psychological findings with voluntaryist anarchism.)

“The world will not know peace until we learn to understand each other’s emotions”
Bangambiki Habyarimana, The Great Pearl of Wisdom

I made a unconscious, unwritten vow when I turned anarchist. I swore to sacrifice emotion and kill weakness and frailty. I would stop being soft, reactionary, and volatile. I would champion reason and brush aside feelings. I would be unflinching in my resolve to argue truths, and I would not allow emotions to spoil my articulation of them.

If there was one thing I internalized, it was that emotions were less than desirous. They were yucky and unacceptable. They represented human folly; they had to not just be controlled. They needed to be squelched. Emotions were the lifeblood of Statists, of sheep who could not think and who could be easily herded. Reason, on the other hand, was the domain of the übermensch—of the anarchist. (more…)

Letter to Ross: Thank you for Spurring my Recovery

Dear Ross,

You have helped a great number people. I do not just mean in terms of saving lives, adhering to principles, or undermining the dark side of the drug war.

You certainly contributed in those ways, but there is another potentially unrecognized contribution you have made. You have had tremendous emotional influence. You helped people like me, people who have been jeopardized by similar situations, cope and deal with the suffocating experience of self-hatred.Happy birthday; I hope the day is excellent. You deserve celebration and enjoyment above all else. You are an extraordinary human being.

A Letter to Statists: Using Government to Control People is Soul-Murder

Dear Statists,

I write this letter in peace. I want you for a friend, to be an anarchist’s friend and ally. Here I will express how I think and feel, how many voluntaryists think and feel; and hopefully, you can empathize with us and we can all communicate on the same wavelength. Bear with me, for the things I say may be uncomfortable and jarring. (more…)

Healing Madness with Communication, Conversation, and Love

mtaynhg3njg19974855_19892922

Does anyone believe schizophrenia (madness) can be “cured” with conversation only—with words and human connection alone?

Most modern psychiatrists deny that this is possible. They claim that schizophrenia is a permanent brain disease. But a new form of therapy is challenging that old perspective. (more…)

How to Turn a Child into a Monster: The Cycle of Social Damnation

How to turn a child into a monster:

  • Step 1, child-rearing: destroy the child’s emotional circuitry through culturally accepted abuses, including spanking and coercing, which occurs throughout childhood, so the child only knows fear and resentment.

Stop the Plague of Pseudoscience From Contaminating Anarchism

In anarchist communities, there are many more self-help and spiritual gurus gaining popularity. Anarcho-mystics are the primary personality. They have become acceptable enough to become a counterculture meme within anarchism.

Everywhere I look, I see charlatans, snake oil dealers, tricksters, and quacks. The only difference between garden variety new age folks and these people is the label. They wear the title “anarchist,” but they sell everything from alien overlords to dowsing rods to a smorgasbord of other conspiracy theories and pseudo-medical practices.

I refuse to target or name any specific individual here, because I do not want to start a pissing contest or attack a single person. This is just my opinion gleaned from observations of the community.

Anarchism Takes Courage: Helping People Escape the Cult of Normalcy

Anarchism is about courage. It takes poise to help people escape the cult of normalcy, wherein they revel in a haze of disinterest and violence and depravity. But when anarchists attempt to persuade people to discard love of their culture coma, of blood and carnage, they usually get a counterattack in the form of dismissive slander and appeals to State piety.

But it goes without saying the aforesaid defensiveness will crop up. Anarchism is not a philosophy one can peddle and not expect backlash. Anarchists require gumption to spread their ideas. They need not hide in the basement and avoid attacks; the anarchist must eventually emerge from the basement and lay siege to the idea of Statism. They must not be too fearful to communicate, lest they become miserly in their attempts to liberate the downtrodden. (more…)

MDMA: an Underground History, Its Pharmacological Effects, and Embracing Quantum Personality Change

The designer drug MDMA has caught a lot of flak from mainstream media over the years. Journalists, politicians, and other antediluvian types have failed to understand it, and have neglected researching it beyond biased governmental sources.

This intellectual dishonesty, of course, has led to the mass spread of myths and disinformation. But contrary to the rampant lie-mongering, the drug has been a godsend for people suffering from a variety of problems, especially latent traumas.
