Anarchism is Deeply, Intimately Personal

Being an anarchist is not just a catchy and trendy, temporary way of life; nor is it a passing fancy or a cool philosophy to use for the sake of winning arguments.

Anarchism is deeply, intimately personal. (more…)

Relationalism Part 2: A Softer Aesthetic for Freedom

As I have attempted to demonstrate, anarchist groups have mostly been comprised of people uttering the same “logical” truths, in a kind of echo chamber. They are stuck on the economic, logical, and moral vectors. They have not considered tackling the issue of anarchism and combating statism from other angles. And my goal is to observe the situation from an emotional, dialogic, holistic, and visceral perspective.

Debunking the Myth of the Bad Child

The notion that children must be controlled, coerced, and hit is a vestigial cultural organ of society; it is unneeded and destructive. Neuropsychology has undermined this lie that children have to be controlled in order to be brought up well, as upstanding and virtuous people.

At roughly two years of age, children are growing and developing neurologically, and they have not created all the necessary networks to regulate their emotions.

This is why they become volatile and demonstrate aggression. It is not because kids need to be shaped into good people, but because they are still developing. Therefore, hitting them and controlling their emotions during this stage only causes trauma and harm. Ironically, it helps mold bitter, destructive, violent, traumatized, and depressed adults.

I was Spanked and I Turned Out OK—or did I?

Most everyone has heard or used the phrase, “I was spanked and I turned out ok.”

This expression represents acceptance of kid hitting. It sits at the heart of American spanking culture and conjures similar phrases like, “My parents spanked me and that is why I spank my kids,” and “if more children were spanked there would be fewer brats running around.”

Cliché’s such as these not only promote spanking acceptance but also encourages and praises this type of punishment, which research evidence abundantly suggests can damage children. (more…)

Anarchy and Emotion: Overcoming Childism and Healing Emotional Injuries

(Note: This is Part 3 in a 3 part series covering Hard Versus Soft anarchism, the doctrine of Relationalism, and movement toward the Sensitive Society. This is my attempt to professionally reconcile the underlying truth of psychological findings with voluntaryist anarchism.)

“The evolution of culture is ultimately determined by the amount of love, understanding and freedom experienced by its children…Every abandonment, every betrayal, every hateful act towards children returns tenfold a few decades later upon the historical stage, while every empathic act that helps a child become what he or she wants to become, every expression of love toward children heals society and moves it in unexpected, wondrous new directions.”

Letter to Ross: Thank you for Spurring my Recovery

Dear Ross,

You have helped a great number people. I do not just mean in terms of saving lives, adhering to principles, or undermining the dark side of the drug war.

You certainly contributed in those ways, but there is another potentially unrecognized contribution you have made. You have had tremendous emotional influence. You helped people like me, people who have been jeopardized by similar situations, cope and deal with the suffocating experience of self-hatred.Happy birthday; I hope the day is excellent. You deserve celebration and enjoyment above all else. You are an extraordinary human being.

A Letter to Statists: Using Government to Control People is Soul-Murder

Dear Statists,

I write this letter in peace. I want you for a friend, to be an anarchist’s friend and ally. Here I will express how I think and feel, how many voluntaryists think and feel; and hopefully, you can empathize with us and we can all communicate on the same wavelength. Bear with me, for the things I say may be uncomfortable and jarring. (more…)

Healing Madness with Communication, Conversation, and Love

mtaynhg3njg19974855_19892922

Does anyone believe schizophrenia (madness) can be “cured” with conversation only—with words and human connection alone?

Most modern psychiatrists deny that this is possible. They claim that schizophrenia is a permanent brain disease. But a new form of therapy is challenging that old perspective. (more…)

How to Turn a Child into a Monster: The Cycle of Social Damnation

How to turn a child into a monster:

  • Step 1, child-rearing: destroy the child’s emotional circuitry through culturally accepted abuses, including spanking and coercing, which occurs throughout childhood, so the child only knows fear and resentment.

Stop the Plague of Pseudoscience From Contaminating Anarchism

In anarchist communities, there are many more self-help and spiritual gurus gaining popularity. Anarcho-mystics are the primary personality. They have become acceptable enough to become a counterculture meme within anarchism.

Everywhere I look, I see charlatans, snake oil dealers, tricksters, and quacks. The only difference between garden variety new age folks and these people is the label. They wear the title “anarchist,” but they sell everything from alien overlords to dowsing rods to a smorgasbord of other conspiracy theories and pseudo-medical practices.

I refuse to target or name any specific individual here, because I do not want to start a pissing contest or attack a single person. This is just my opinion gleaned from observations of the community.
